Hello Westeros!
Lots of new units tryouts last week during the Chinese New Year holidays, so here come some short recap for each games!
For today’s program: Highgarden Pikemen, Golden Company Crossbowmen, Mormont Bruisers, Lannisport City Watch, Blacktyde Chosen, Drowned Men, and Greyjoy Heroes 2!
Yes, bloody holidays!

Game 1:
Renly LPS vs Robb Stark
My list:
Renly LPS in Thorn Watch, GC Crossbowmen, Rose Knights, Higharden Pikemen, NCUs Margaery, Olenna and Cortnay.

First try for the Pikemen, and well… Let’s just say Lee didn’t want me to try them. First unit killed, a Robb-Dervishes charge on the flank hurts…

First try also for the Crossbowmen, which proved a bit more useful, even though clearly overcosted. Their “Sentinel” order makes them quite potent, and actually quite versatile. They worked quite well with Thorn Watch, lots of distance attacks and charge potential.

The last unit that was tried out this game was the Mormont Bruisers. They proved quite potent, but fragile. Their “Counterstrike” effect is good, but without modifiers can be unreliable for such a fragile unit.

Ended on a Stark victory for Lee!

Game 2:
Cortnay Penrose vs Rodrik Cassel
My list:
Cortnay Penrose in Thorn Watch, GC Crossbowmen, Rose Knights, Higharden Pikemen, NCUs Margaery, Olenna and Shyra Errol.

Very similar list for me, with this time Bloody Mummers and Bowmen for the Starks instead of Dervishes and Crannogmen.

More or less a similar assessment as the first game for the new units, with the Crossbows being the best performing ones. The Thorn Watch on the flank turned out pretty good, managing to survive till the end against avery high number of Bowmen attacks.

The Mormont Bruisers combined to Howland Reed’s influence were much better, and managed to nearly kill the whole Pikemen unit before ultimately getting finished by Crossbowmen and a “Final Strike”.

Victory for Baratheon this time!

Game 3:
Baelor Blacktyde vs Dagmer Cleftjaw
My list:
Baelor Blacktyde in Silence Men, Asha in Blacktyde Chosen, Dagmer in Ironmakers, Drowned Men, NCUs Beron, Tristifer and Wendamyr.

Civil war against Berkan, with both of us using Baelor and Dagmer, me with Baelor commander and Dagmer attachment, him the opposite. Very close game till the end, I won with only 1 more VP.

I didn’t get to use Baelor much since Qarl killed him on his first attack sadly, but Dagmer attachment in Ironmakers has a lot of merit, bringing offensive keywords to a tank is always nice. Qarl and Asha in Blacktyde’s Chosen are both great value, Qarl basically healing them after everyenemy attack, and Asha giving them some more opportunities to heal thanks to “Warcry”. He also tried Moqorro in Reavers, which was good and allowed him to juggle with his wounds quite well, a good combo with the GJ tactics deck.

I tried Tristifer, which turned out pretty useless against Greyjoys, and he tried Asha NCU, which turned out pretty useless with onlyBlacktyde Chosen and GC Crossbows left.

The MVP of the match was probably Beron Blacktyde, which we were both using, who allowed my Silenced Men and his Blacktyde’s Chosen to sustain a frightening number of attacks. As in a completely indecent number of attacks.

The last great addition were one unit of Drowned Men, whobasically allowed me to heal 10 wounds on the Silenced Men during the game, while grabbing the final VP at the end of the game. I was doubtful about them, but combined with a “Resilience” effect from Beron or the Prophet, they can really turn one of your most flimsy units in an unkillable machine.

Game 4:
Renly TCH vs Tywin Lannister
My list:
Renly TCH in Rose Knights, Brienne the Blue in Highgarden Pikemen, Pikeman Captain in Wardens, Stag Knights, NCUs Margaery, Olenna and Shyra Errol.

Third try for the Pikemen, with Brienne added in them for a potential extra-charge. Turns out he never attacked my Renly in Rose Knights, so that proved a bit useless. Plus, 1 charge with no rerolls, and 1 failed charge with them, so still not fully tried out to their maximum potential. Grmblbl…

In other news, the Lannisport Guard proved quite good as well, I really liked their versatility: Aerys Oakheart can make them a verytough unit to crack, while Mandon Moore gave them a good keyword and helped a bit in offense. Sadly, Renly’s healing and a flank charge from “Ours is the Fury” pumped-up Stag Knights on round 4 proved a bit too much for them, but we can’t really hold that against them, that’s a pretty normal result.

Wardens were very good vs Tywin’s Halberdiers, “Set for Charge” becomes very dangerous due to the “Counterstrike” ability, and they managed to make the proud lion flee towards safety.

I feel like a Pikemen unit and a Wardens unit work pretty well together as “list base”, 1 defensive and 1 offensive unit, both cheap and efficient, which leaves enough space for other more expensive options.
